At the same time, it has become clear how dependent critical industries are on a few suppliers and raw material sources. Blocked sea routes, export restrictions, or targeted sanctions can bring entire supply chains to a standstill within weeks. For armed forces, this poses a real risk: systems that cannot be reproduced or repaired in an emergency lose their value.
Sleipnir Technologies responds with a clear approach. We develop military drone systems whose core components are predominantly based on domestic natural fibers and bio-based resins. The goal is a defense capability that is not only technologically but also materially resilient.
Flax is one of Europe’s oldest cultivated plants and today a modern high-tech material. In combination with specially adapted resin systems, lightweight, stable fiber composite structures are created, which are ideal for military drone systems. They enable high stiffness with low weight, reduce fragmentation behavior, and offer an attractive profile in terms of CO₂ footprint and energy consumption in manufacturing.
The decisive advantage: Flax can be cultivated and processed in large quantities in Europe. This allows essential structural components of our drones to be manufactured independently of globally critical raw materials such as carbon fibers or certain metals. Bio-based resins complement this approach and additionally reduce dependence on petroleum-based systems.
